Introduction to Liturgy

This course is oriented to all people who want to grow in their relationship with God, especially to those involved with the liturgical celebrations of the Church.

The course is designed to run for 5 weeks beginning the week of Jan 10th, 2016 in a local parish where participants meet face-to-face along with the facilitator to discuss questions rather than via internet postings. The orientation session is conducted at the parish the week before the first session.

“The Liturgy is both the source for achieving human sanctification and God’s glorification, and the summit “toward which all activity of the Church is directed” (SC 10). Thus, liturgy is the basic communal celebration of the Church that leads all to unity in Christ through prayer and celebration. In this course, the participants will study and reflect on the liturgical celebrations on the Church, particularly Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours.
